About Me...
I have a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Music Technology, which I gained at Rose Bruford College in Kent, I also have a Distinction in a National Diploma BTEC in Popular Music gained from Exeter College. My time and skills are split predominantly between composing for film & TV, and either producing or recording artists/bands. These skills have complimented each other throughout my education and career, and continue to work well together.
Film Scoring... I have written for a number of short films in the past. film scoring enables me to combine my musical training and recording skills. These film scores include: a modernisation of Robert Wiene 1920 “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari”; Ella Brooks’ 2004 “Cut Whilst Shaving”; Dave Shaerf's 2006 "Perfect Match"; and more recently I have been commissioned to score 3 of the 4 bursary winning films by the Exeter Phoenix Media Centre. Most of these scores and others can be downloaded here. I enjoy writing in a range styles including classical, electronic, jazz and also enjoy creating and engineering sound design within suitable projects. I will shortly be using installing 5.1 Surround Sound in my studio to create more realistic soundscapes within my productions.
Music Recording and Producing... As the newly appointed Head Engineer at the well-established Propagation House studio nr Launceston in Cornwall, I have established myself as both a producer and engineer. The studio has seen many familiar faces such as Brian Ferry, Brian Eno, Hundred Reasons and will continued to yield a healthy diet of bands and artists because of it's location, equipment and skilled employees. If you are interested in working with me I recommend you visit the studio website. You can sample some of my recorded music here.
Other... Although the majority of my time is taken up by these two mediums, I have also spent time on other media related productions. In May 2006 I produced a film for the world famous "Salsa Celtica" playing live at the Exeter Phoenix, and also a film for a band called Lady and the Tramps in September 2006 at Timepiece Bar in Exeter. Sample these films here. I have also performed and composed in a number of professional and semi professional theatre productions including Ben Crocker’s “Look Back In Anger” at the Exeter Northcott Theatre. I’ve organised many large scale music events including two showcases at the Exeter Phoenix Arts Centre in September 2005, photos of these can be seen in the gallery. I am also a free-lance camera operator for the London based Courage Media, past work has included filming the London Philharmonic Orchestra and working at the Royal Festival Hall and the Royal Albert Hall.
